YES AND...It's all IMPROV

Once Upon a time, in a less crowded NYC than you know today, a south american bilingual latina from Forest Hills became  a part of PRIDE, Puerto=Rican Drama Ensemble, studied Meisner, Stanislavsky, Method Acting at the Lynette Sheldon Studio, HB Studio and the Puerto-Rican Traveling Theater. In between auditions where she was told she wasn’t white enough, sorta ethnic and Latina enough- she sang in a band, took acting classes and did readings while working her booty off to finish school. 

She directed in college, then Frank Perez' SPIC at the Nuyorican Poet's Cafe, Short plays at Marist College and the Vagina Monologues for VDay and a Memory, a Monologue, a Rant and a Prayer at Hunter College.

She LOVED IT ALL!

And one day after interning at Tribeca Film Center and 40 Acres and a Mule, being an extra on NYPD BLUE and many others...she realized this wasn't her path. Her guides poked her in the rib one too many times! The spirit guides jabbered on, we said,” Spiritual director, nena! Not theater or film! Spiritual.” 

So she left it all behind, thinking," Well, maybe when I retire I will play abuelitas in community theater...

CUT TO:

Almost twenty years later, said Latina leaves an incredibly crowded NYC, moves to Central PA, leaves her NYC circle of twenty years behind, all the diverse dance classes, live music, theaters, brunches  and all the incredible restaurants in her neighborhood...for gulp- LOVE. Cursing her prayers, “ God, Ancestors and guides, I don’t care where he lives as long as it’s not Alaska ( i get cold easily) she moved- for LOVE. 

Ya know it had to be capitalized for her to move, right?

ASTROLOGY LEARNING MOMENT:

Part of having the North Node ( your destiny) in Pisces in the Midheaven ( house of career)  is that you really have to step out on FAITH...I mean big time! For folks with this midheaven you really need to let go of the past life south node in Virgo controlling ways and truly step off the cliff...and know that you will FLY!

Like a good little candle-burning, egg limpia-ing urban bruja priestess she listens to her SOUL and throws out her ex-fiancee's stuff and many other miscellaneous items- and leaves her beloved apartment/temple of 16 years.

She goes bravely to the country, and that tall, dark handsome man turns out to be even better than she imagined! WEPA!

But she misses her spiritual circle, her margaritas with las choices while bopping to reggae ton, her friends who always pour their hearts out to strangers and most of all the FOOD ( sun taurus here!)

So she googles CLASSES in HARRISBURG and finds the Harrisburg Improv Theater. Returning to the theater has been soul-expanding for me. For the last two years I've explored archetypes, characters, relationships and storylines I never would have!

IMPROV IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL...if you are getting to serious about your work, life and  ehem,  your GRAND MISSION...take a minute and PLAY PLEASE!

After all, it's supposed to be fun!  That's what Spirit guides and the deceased remind us all the time!

As of Spring 2022, I've studied for three years at the HIT, taken Musical Improv at The Magnet and The BIG Theater in Baltimore. I've played over 11  teams and already taught over 800  teens Improv for Collaboration & Confidence!
